James (Jim) Bickley, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist
with 18 years of experience in private practice at La Vie
Counseling Center. He is a graduate of the University of
California, Riverside and earned his Ph.D. in clinical
psychology from the Alliant International University’s
California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles
campus.
Prior to joining La Vie in 1989, Dr. Bickley’s training
included internships at a local psychiatric hospital and child
guidance clinic, a clerkship at a local community mental health
center, and the assistant directorship of a program for
neurologically impaired adults and their caregivers. In addition
to his clinical experience, Dr. Bickley is a Professor of
Psychology at Pasadena City College where he has 36 years of
teaching experience. In recent years he has specialized in teaching courses in
child, adult, and life-span developmental psychology.
His
clinical specialties include working with depressed or anxious
adults experiencing significant life stressors (including
chronic health problems, marriage problems, divorce,
bereavement, career change, spiritual questioning, etc.) and
working with families who have children/adolescents experiencing
learning and/or behavior problems.
